"I dedicate all my songs to my heavenly father,

I was born Theresa Rector, August 21, 1936, in Oklahoma.
When I was eight years old, my sister got married, and gave me her guitar. I tuned it like a steel guitar, laid
it flat on my lap, and corded it using the handle of one of mama's knives. When I was 12, I learned to play open
cord as I do now.
When I was eleven years old, I saw an ad in the paper urging singers and musicians to audition. I called the phone
number listed, got the address, and took my guitar, and went there right away. I sang, and yodeled several songs,
and became the star of the new country show they started up. We were on a daily radio program.
By age twelve I was singing almost every night somewhere one being the famous Broadmoor Hotel nestled deep in the
valley of Colorado Springs, our home at the time. I sang for the forty-eight governors of the forty-eight states,
and it was the year of 1948.
The day I turned thirteen years old, I was a guest on the Big D (Dallas) Jamboree. I enjoyed that experience. I
met Sonny James, the Maddex Brothers, and Rose, who at that day and age were some of my favorite recording artists.
A few months before my fourteenth birthday, my dad moved us from Colorado Springs to Abilene, Texas. I auditioned
to be on a daily radio show with Billy Thompson, and as a regular member on the Big State Jamboree, similar to
the Grand Ol' Opry. I was also doing shows, and playing for lots of dances working with "The Brushcutters."
At a very early age I got married while in Abilene. That marriage failed and so I started working in the night
clubs, and as time slipped by I was introduced to alcohol, then amphetamines which were the ruination of the next
20 years of my life. I had been invited to come to the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, by Hank Locklin,
Little Jimmie Dickens, and Lefty Frizzell, who had become a friend. I had been on tour in 1958 with him (Lefty)
and his band, and other lady singers. I couldn't ever seem to go to the Opry because of my addiction.
During these years of failure with my career, there were failed marriages also, but I wasn't a loser after all,
because through it all, God had seen fit to bless me with six beautiful, wonderful children which happen to be
the greatest blessings I've known, along with my grand and great-grandchildren. They are behind me 100%.
To get me however to where I am today in Christ Jesus was indeed a miracle. I had gotten to the point that I was
taking a handful of amphetamines at a time, several times a day in order to keep my body going. I couldn't even
get up out of bed without first taking them. I was so miserable I didn't want to go on in my body like this anymore.
One morning after I got up I heard the Holy Spirit saying to me, "Look what you're doing to your children."
At that time I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from the desire to take anymore drugs or
drink any more alcohol. I felt a great release of pressure, and I wanted to become a better person. I wasn't a
Christian, nor were any of my family, but as I was talking to the Lord sometime after that I said to him, "Lord
I don't want to sing those songs anymore. I want to sing and yodel for you, Lord." At that time I wrote my
first yodel song for Jesus, "I Wanna Yodel for The Lord." I've been writing my own songs since and will
continue until he says enough! Needless to say, I am now saved, and spirit filled, and led now. God give me prophetic
dreams and visions.
While visiting a friend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I was talking with my son Travis one day and he said, "Mom, you
should make a professional tape of some of your songs." I said, "I'm too old to sing anymore." He
said "Not so, you were born to sing." So I called Tribe of Judah Studios, and the next thing is to get
them sold to the public. It's my prayer and desire that will happen. The voices in my songs are all my own and
