The latest reports came from Chipmunk who revealed that he wants to team up with Tinchy Stryder to record the official anthem for the 2010 World Cup. At the Mobo awards at the end of last month chipmunk stated that “Me and Tinchy could do a song, it would be a great thing to do and something different.”

The rapper / mc has also stated that he become exhausted from touring to the stage where he fell asleep and missed his first flight to Glasgow.

A memorabilia company has erected an 11ft replica of the Beatles first contract. The giant contract was put up on Carnaby Street in Liverpool to give fans of the Beatles the chance to sign the contract as though they to were part of the band!! Im not entirely sure what the point of all this actually is, it seems to be part of a competition the memorabilia company has entered in to to win the original contract which is worth half a million pounds.

I realise that the Beatles are a massive part of Liverpool and the culture and heritage however as my partner is from Liverpool and all the family i think i can safely say that the majority of people in Liverpool are sick to the back teeth of the Beatles, Some of them see them all as fakes, People believe the Beatles started trends in fashion which was wrong, the Beatles dressed the same as everyone in Liverpool at the time and didn’t stick out more than the next guy.

After having to live with something year in and year out for so long things are going to get tiresome, The Beatles is one of them. Was this giant contract erected ‘for the fans’? No it wasn’t, it was erected so someone could make money out of the Beatles, if they really wanted to do it for the fans then they would have done it on august bank holiday when the Mathew street festival was on, this way fans from all over the world would have seen it instead of the people that have had it rubbed in their face for the last 30 years!

****EDIT***

Due to the Kind Neil posting a comment on this post i thought i would straighten my facts as i dont intend to be incorrect.

The giant contract was signed on Carnaby Street London last month, Im sorry for the muddle up

In the 70’s band reigned supreme, independent labels thrived as people appreciated the music genius of the people of that time, The Who, Madness, Pink Floyd… Lots of massive big names. In the 80’s and 90’s these people were pushed out of the industry by the big wigs who saw a more efficient way of making money.

The people in the country at the time are largely responsible as they are the people who bought the records. Take That, Jason Donovan, Blue, Kylie Monique, Britney Spears, Madonna, Boyzone, The Spice Girls… do i need to go on? Kids born in the 80’s grew up without realising that music came from instruments!

Thankfully though people got extremely sick and tired of it all!! Bands such as The Verve and Coldplay started to rise in the ranks, Oasis and Blur had always bucked the trend but coming into more recent years (the last 10) bands have risen again! Some of them are crap! some of them are just plain weired! but the thing is they are back, people send a message to the record industry which probably went along the lines of ’stop ruining my life with crap music’ and all of a sudden there are a lot of bands back in the charts and back to stay, The media could largely be responsible, the televising of events such as Glastonbury gives that part of the industry the exposure it needs.

Today i believe there is a good balance. Bands are doing very well for themselfs and the industry has its puppets; for example Little Boots has slammed onto the scene, i like her, i like her music but how much of all this has been the industry deciding its her time?
